This piece is my first exploration into the horror genre. My inspiration came from imagined images of an elaborate, uninhabited, Victorian-style house. The house isn't the stereotypical dilapidated house which finds itself the object of many horror stories, but a perfectly kept, colorful, richly and elaborately decorated abode, yet no one lives there. I have used a variety of techniques to musically portray the disturbing, creepy nature of the too-colorful, too-elaborate, disproportionate house, such as extended techniques, polytonality and polychords, and harmonies that are condensed or expanded, sometimes at the same time.
